About SWS

Sturge-Weber syndrome (SWS) is a genetic condition of unknown cause and currently not noted as being inheritable. The pink to port wine birthmark can impact the skin, the brain, and the eye with wide ranging medical problems from glaucoma, seizures, and many other secondary medical and psychosocial issues. A little over 10,000 people are estimated to have SWS in the United States alone. Current treatments address only the medical and psychological symptom and vascular malformations.
